KABOEM
The Our Lieve Vrouwetoren is one of the city's eye-catchers. At 98 meters tall, its beauty is hard to miss. What far from everyone knows is that the square on which it sits has an explosive history. In the pavement are visible the contours that indicate where the Chapel of Our Lady used to stand. In the 18th century, shells and gunpowder were stored here. Until, one disastrous day in 1787, an unfortunate spark detonated it.
