Man with Hat 10+ | Boost Productions

A surreal circus performance

In a setting full of surprising perspectives, five persons wearing black bowler hats appear from all corners. Without exchanging a word, they are alternately each other's image, complement and opponent. The comparison with the absurdist paintings of René Magritte comes to mind.

'Man with Hat' is a surrealist circus performance, a representation of and full of confusion about 'bumping into yourself'. The stage setting, design Jelle Engel, is an ode to the "anarchitectonic" work of artist Gordon Matta Clarck (1943-1978). Matta Clarck's art was always temporary; he sawed through buildings that were about to be demolished and captured the newly created perspectives in images.

Matta Clarck's art was always temporary; he sawed through buildings that were about to be demolished and captured the newly created perspectives in images.

Boost Productions is taking this a step further by inspiring their unique stage setting with Matta Clarck's work. Directed by Jakop Ahlbom, "Man with Hat" is an imaginative circus performance with lots of humor, cinematic effects, weightlessness and unexpected jumps. In which you certainly don't see the next move of the man with the hat coming.

Many great circus performers have developed and performed "Man with Hat. The new cast, consisting of new creators, amazes young and old once again. 'Man with Hat' is for everyone ages 10 and up.
