The Waterline's theme cruises combine a scenic cruise with a trip to a special place or landmark. They all have a particular theme, in the field of art, nature or culture. You can choose from a rich array of themes, such as the Bat Boat, Nature on the Embankment, Mondrian Cruise and Tower Cruise.

Walk with a Guild guide through Amersfoort's beautiful historic city center. The daily city walk will take you past the picturesque Muurhuizen, the iconic Koppelpoort and the Havik. We start at the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren, the 98 meter high eye-catcher of the city. Walking along the many national monuments, streets and canals you will feel the medieval city that developed from the 13th century. The walks are extra special because the Guild guide takes you inside the famous Koppelpoort from 1425.

Architecture and heritage belong to Amersfoort. The architecture maps produced by FASadE can be used on their own. There are routes along the work of city architects such as Zuiderhoek and Van der Tak, but also routes that zoom in on certain architectural periods, such as the reconstruction period and the 1970s. Maps are available at tourist information offices, museum shop Flehite and via fasade.nl, among others.

Museum Flehite is located in the heart of Amersfoort's historic city center. Housed in three beautiful late medieval wall houses, the museum has a deep connection to the city and its past. Here the history of Amersfoort comes to life in an appealing way or visitors enjoy changing exhibitions featuring both national and international art. The exhibitions are also accompanied by many complementary activities on the program, such as guided tours, vacation activities, lectures and workshops for young and old.

On the beautiful Schothorst estate stands The Green House. This building is a visitor center and a meeting place for Amersfoorters and organizations with a green heart. In and around Het Groene Huis there are all kinds of activities about nature and sustainability. You are welcome to participate in the events, courses, lectures and other activities. The building is also home to the Center for Nature and Environmental Education (CNME) of the municipality of Amersfoort.

The Wagenwerkplaats is an interesting area where much Industrial Heritage has been redeveloped (studios, restaurants and small businesses). There also an ecological cpo neighborhood realized: De Soesterhof and a little more to the west, a new neighborhood has emerged where the Noack factory used to be. A number of apartment buildings will also be built here in the future.

De Nieuwe Stad at De Eemhaven is a lively area where users, functions and buildings reinforce each other. Developer Schipper Bosch and the Municipality of Amersfoort are working on the future of De Nieuwe Stad. This includes adding housing and existing and new users of the area. Industrial Heritage back at buildings such as the old soap factory, the Rohm & Haas, the former Prodent factory, the small neighborhood Het Sasje.

Kattenbroek was fully developed by the municipality and based on a unique urban design concept by Ashok Bhalotra, then director of Kuiper Compagnons. Vathorst combines an old farming landscape with a polder landscape full of water, which led to a varied master plan by West8 and Kuiper Compagnons.

The remarkable building of Leerhotel Het Klooster and restaurant Novice is a national monument from 1952. The Order of the Knights of the Cross established a monastery here, where the fathers provided education and accommodation for travelers. Besides mission - proclamation of the faith - these were the spearheads of this order. The Kruisheren had started Roman Catholic education for boys in the Gooi area. In 1947 they moved with their school to Amersfoort, where they first taught in makeshift buildings. In 1952, the monastery was officially opened, and the accompanying school buildings were completed in 1956. The school of the Kruisheren consisted of a hbs ("higher civil school," later succeeded by havo and vwo) and a gymnasium. In 1968, this boys' school merged with a girls' high school. The upper grades of the new merged school were taught in the convent's school buildings. The number of pupils grew to 900.
