Geertje Arendspad

It was in the winter of 1444 that Geertje Arends left Nijkerk and set out for Amersfoort to enter the Sint Agnietenklooster. There she found her new home. On the Geertje Arends trail we explore "feeling at home" with all our senses.

This route starts at the museum in Nijkerk and ends at the Tower of Our Lady in Amersfoort. In beautiful day walk of about 18 kilometers. The route guide (incl 5 beautiful postcards) is available for 7.50 at VVV Amersfoort or can be ordered through the webshop of www.gelukkigerwijspad.nl. A gps track is also available.

Home for yourself
In the 21st century we face a series of challenges: we are busy and seem to have less and less time for silence, reflection and relaxation. On the Geertje Arend trail, we explore "feeling at home" in a lighthearted way: from the smell and taste of home to the ideal house, from Japanese Kintsugi to hospitality. The reflections in the trail booklet encourage you to experience where and when you feel at home. And to share in that feeling.

Home for the Other
With the trail guide you get 5 deluxe postcards with beautiful illustrations by Dennis Lohuis. Dennis has researched which birds feel at home on the Geertje Arendspad and painted 5 of them and provided them with a home-feeling story. You are invited to write one or more cards to someone you don't know who also wishes to feel at home.

Home feeling spread
At Onze Lieve Vrouwe-Toren in Amersfoort, the end point of the route, you can turn it in at VVV Amersfoort. You will then receive a little treat. But above all: these cards are collected and distributed to people who can use a warm word.
