It dates from 1745 and with its 2,500 meters is one of the longest retaining quays of the Grebbelinie. The Voorwerk on the Asschatterkeerkade from 1799 lies east of Leusden on the edge of an inundation plain. But there are also elements from recent history.
The nine visible machine gun casemates, for example, built during the 1939-1940 mobilization. There is also a unique concrete tank barrier from that era. In vain, the Germans tried to breach the Valley Defense Line here in the May days of 1940.
