He donated the boulder to the city and did so in a playful way that for a long time was not appreciated.

Keitrekkers

Jonkheer Everhard Meyster discovered a 7,157-kilogram boulder on Leusderheide and bet friends that he could round up enough people to drag the rock within the city walls. Under great enthusiasm and with the help of lots of beer and fresh pretzels, 400 Amersfoorters finished the whole job. Because it was actually all a big joke by the jonkheer, the city subsequently laughed and mocked at it. Out of embarrassment, the "keitrekkers" buried the Amersfoort Kei on the Varkensmarkt and did not dig it up again until 1903. Once the city got over the embarrassment, the boulder was displayed as their symbol of pride.
