Building smart and fast after the war

After World War II, there was a great shortage of houses and building materials. The government then decided that smart and fast construction was needed. In Jericho and Jerusalem we saw how this could be done. With few things yet build many houses!

Architect J.F. Berghoef chose a clever system with concrete slabs, the Airey system. This allowed houses to be built quickly. And they looked cozy too, with small windows and pointed roofs.

There was even a house completely decorated as an example. So everyone could see how you could decorate your home nicely and conveniently. These neighborhoods show how you can achieve a lot with little. And all that with a nice street plan and greenery from the surroundings. Really smart thinking!
