Forest Birkhoven

Bos Birkhoven is located on the outskirts of the city of Amersfoort. Special features are the large pond and the Bosbad.

Around 1920, the pond and the Forest Pool were dug out by hand as part of the work relief effort. The released sand was raised to form viewing mounds.

The oldest trees in Birkhoven are Scots pines, some of them more than 150 years old. Park-like elements can be recognized in the forest such as the rhododendron valley and long beech avenues. These are stylistic features of the English landscape style.
