Amersfoort Central Station is the main railroad station in Amersfoort and an important hub in rail transport between the Randstad and the northern and eastern Netherlands. Some 50,000 travelers come here daily and in the coming decades this will grow to more than 100,000. Amersfoort grew in the distant past thanks to the arrival of the railroad. Today, the railroad is precisely a requirement for continued healthy growth as a city. Public transportation to and from the Amersfoort Centraal interchange - both by train and bus - contributes to a city that accommodates healthy mobility and a green environment. Amersfoort will therefore build new housing mainly close to the railroad in the coming years.
Near the station is a bus station for city buses of Syntus Utrecht and regional buses of Syntus Utrecht, U-OV and EBS.
