The Blue Caftan

Take a look in advance

Halim (Saleh Bakri) runs a traditional kaftan store with his wife Mina (Lubna Azabal) in the medina of Salé, Morocco. His authentic handiwork produces gorgeous kaftans (tunic-like dresses). Throughout their marriage, they have lived with a secret, but despite this, the couple has an enormous affection for each other. Mina's illness and the arrival of Youssef, a new apprentice who wants to learn the trade, put pressure on this fragile balance. United in their love, they help each other face their fears.

In The Blue Caftan, director Maryam Touzani (Adam) shows that love can take different forms. The phenomenal acting performances of Saleh Bakri and Belgian Lubna Azabal (Incendies, Adam), along with the beautiful cinematography, make for a poignant, warm and universal film.
