A New Kind of Wilderness

Take a look in advance

On a secluded idyllic farm in the forests of Norway, the Paynes live wild, free and self-sufficient lives. Maria and Nik homeschool their children Ulv, Falk, Freja and Ronja and strive to live as a close-knit family in harmony with nature. However, a tragic event puts an abrupt end to their idyllic world and forces the family onto a new path toward modern society.

Voted best documentary at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, A New Kind of Wilderness is an intimate and warm portrait about love, life and growing up. The Paynes' story, their victories and struggles, invite reflection on our own life choices, our responsibility to the Earth and our children, and how we cope with life after a great loss.
