Anton de Kom, my father
Anton de Kom: freedom fighter and resistance hero. The Surinamese born fought against colonial Holland. When he was exiled to the Netherlands, he fought against Nazi Germany. He paid for it with death.
How is the life of his only daughter, Judith de Kom (played by Urmie Plein, Colombina winner Ik zeg toch sorry)? When her father is rounded up in 1944, she is thirteen years old. From her mother she learns the art of endlessly waiting for her father's return. Fifteen years after the war, his body is found in a mass grave in Sandbostel. She rereads the verse he wrote in her poetry album in 1940 and remembers that she didn't understand it then. Now this poem is the starting point for a lifelong search for the man who was her father. She talks about her own memories that have become intertwined with the memories of others.
