District Museum Soesterkwartier

Take a look in advance

Go back in time....

The Museum dwelling in the St. Bonifaciusstraat 61, is a gift of housing corporation Portaal to the Soesterkwartier on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of this organization. The history of Portaal began with the establishment of the Housing Association St. Bonifacius.

"The Soesterkwartier has played its own role in the history of Amersfoort since its inception. The district was created when the railroad built a workshop in 1904, later the wagon workshop. The workers who worked there had to live, and because in those days everyone still walked to work, a district was built along the old road from Amersfoort to Soest. The Soesterkwartier became the first real working-class district of Amersfoort.

There are regular exhibitions , which are very worthwhile.
