Psalms by Sweelinck, harpsichord music by Van Noordt and lute music by Vallet come together in a concert focusing on the life of Arnoldus Winsemius. By means of short texts, the experiences of this 17th-century pastor on Taiwan are revealed, and how, partly due to his good care, psalms are once again being sung on Taiwan in a local language that has been hidden in Dutch archives for centuries. This performance is a combination of a concert of Dutch music from the 17th century, a theater lecture on colonial history and the personal story of a young man who turned out to be more than a powerless pawn in world history.
