Hymns, tearjerkers and tearjerkers: it was only a matter of time before The Kik, led by Dave von Raven, would venture out. During the period when all good vibes seemed gone forever, Dave built his own little pub in his home. Belgian beers in dim lighting, Decap dance organ, a healthy dose of melancholy and towering stacks of records by Johnny Hoes, Eddy Wally, Corry Konings and Johnny Jordaan. This was the inspiration for writing an album full of life songs. Songs in which cosiness and ambiance predominate, where there is room for nostalgia and romance and where melancholy is always lurking.

The band The Kik consists of vocalist Dave von Raven, bassist Marcel Groenewegen, guitarist Arjan Spies, drummer Ries Doms and keyboardist Paul Zoontjens. The band has been operating out of Rotterdam since 2011. In 2013, the band was house band in the eighth season of De Wereld Draait Door. After which the band does many a club tour and plays festivals. In 2015, The Kik collaborates with Armand resulting in an album and a true revaluation of the protest singer's work. In 2019, The Kik plays Boudewijn de Groot's first two albums live resulting in two nights in Rotterdam Ahoy. To date, in addition to the album with Armand, The Kik released four LPs with their own work, two albums with retranslated songs and a live album of the Boudewijn de Groot material. released. In addition, Dave von Raven is a frequent guest on radio and TV. In recent years, The Kik has been a regular house band with Beau on RTL.
