Love in times of hopscotch

What do you get when you put Frank Zappa and Remco Campert in the blender together? Talking Heads and Jules Deelder? Miles Davis and Simon Vinkenoog? Right, Kruidkoek and Joost Oomen. In their new performance Liefde in tijden van hopjesvla (Love in times of hops custard), they once again bring a brilliant blend of poetry and muscle jazz. Their goal: to completely immerse the audience in mirth, absurdism and well... love?

Liefde in tijden van hopjesvla is a valiant attempt to strip love songs and love poetry of dripping clichédness. Because yes, even in these strange times someone still falls in love, but how do you say it sincerely? How do you bypass the harp and the sonnet? How do you express the custard in your chest that has suddenly caught fire?

Kruidkoek consists of four hyper-talented jazz musicians who were tired of coloring within the lines. For ten years they have been performing their self-willed music from Cairo to Middelburg, from the Parade to the flower parade in Tiel. Joost Oomen is the best-known young poet in the Netherlands. Earlier he brought Alle dichters hebben gouden helikopters to the theater, a performance in which he explained poetry to the prime minister.
