TOUR WORK ON THE GLASS HUT | GREBBELINIE
For centuries in the Netherlands, water has been an important ally in times of impending war. Water lines were used to keep the enemy at bay. Near Amersfoort, the Grebbelinie was built, with the so-called Werk aan de Glashut near Hoogland. This defense work lies on private property and is normally not accessible. But on Saturday, September 14, during Open Monument Day, it is possible to view this unique defense in Amersfoort with an expert guide from the Grebbelinie Foundation.
The work was last used as a military defense in the May days of 1940. Numerous traces of this (also in the immediate vicinity) are still visible.
Pre-registration is not required.
