Argentine director Lisandro Alonso creates his own magical-realist reality, with a contemplative role for a Jabiru stork. Lisandro Alonso's very first film was La libertad (2001). Since that debut, he has become one of the most important players in the new Argentine cinema. Eureka is his sixth, barely classifiable film. Film Festival Ghent beautifully described the film: 'As if John Ford, David Lynch and Apichatpong Weerasethakul were shooting a film together and then Lisandro Alonso took it from there.' Alonso combines his unique vision with poetry and philosophy in a film in which non-professional actors perform alongside celebrities such as Viggo Mortensen, Chiara Mastroianni and Maria Medeiros. Eureka had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
