The acclaimed stage adaptation of Harry Mulisch's bestseller is back in theaters! Also 80 years after the liberation, De Aanslag is a must-see. A penetrating and exciting story about guilt, responsibility and the impact of war memories.
It is the famine winter of 1945. Next to twelve-year-old Anton's house, a collaborating policeman is shot dead. His neighbors move the body in front of the Steenwijk family's house. After his family is rounded up and shot by the Germans, the why of the events continues to haunt him throughout his life. Anton realizes more and more that there is a very thin line between right and wrong. A pressing question arises: isn't the guilty perhaps also innocent, and the innocent perhaps also guilty. One cannot help but notice that the story has lost nothing of its eloquence; the freedom of man remains vulnerable and cannot be taken for granted nowadays.
Leendert de Ridder, known for his role in the Golden Calf award-winning film Mees Kees, and for his performance in Hendrik Groen: Opgewekt naar de eindstreep, plays the role of Anton van Steenwijk.
Peter Bolhuis (Oogappels,Baantjer, Soldaat van Oranje) and Henriëtte Tol(Keyzer & De Boer Advocaten, Soldaat van Oranje) played starring roles in this show 15 years ago and return. The cast is completed by Tim Linde and Anna Bartels.
