Animal is about the lives of entertainment animateurs Kalia (Dimitra Vlagopoulou) and Eva (Flomaria Papadaki) at a Greek all-inclusive resort. Their job is to entertain vacationers by singing, dancing, and flirting with them. Kalia and Eva seem to have created a little piece of paradise: during the day they work at the hotel, and at night they dance the night away at the local nightclubs or spend their free time by the sea. The seemingly easy job eventually takes its toll as the girls become increasingly distant from their own emotions and dreams.
In Animal, director Sofia Exarchountakes a critical look at the cornerstone of the Greek economy: the tourist industry, where animateurs are constantly working to entertain someone else.
