Take a look in advance

The drawings of Aron Bakker (age 16) have a special perspective. The exhibited drawings are inspired by the works of M. C. Escher and Mondriaan, but applied in a completely unique way to Amersfoort, the city where Aron was born and raised. For example, one of the three works in the 3-part series "city views of Amersfoort" depicts the Koppelpoort, combined with the Volmolen and its (former) water wheel. With an infinite waterfall, in the infinite 'loop' as Escher also did. The location of the exhibition, the Volmolen, now houses the craft workshop De Katoendrukkerij, where they work with a printing technique that Escher also used.

Aron has been drawing all his life. He loves drawing because it allows him to create beautiful things without them really being there, and to use his imagination in them.

For his exam work of 5 havo he made the 3 exhibited drawings about Amersfoort, which were inspired by the work of M.C. Escher. He wanted to make something that was "recognizable to all Amersfoorters, but also something that would appeal to the imagination and that you wouldn't get bored of right away. While drawing, he also drew inspiration from the works of Mondrian, who was also born in Amersfoort.

On Friday, August 9, from 4:00-17:30 p.m., Aron himself will be present to answer questions about his work.

The original drawings are not for sale.
