On Friday evening, September 6, 2024 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. Henk de Bruin will give lecture: Seeing Weather on the Wadden Sea.
The lecture is in Het Groene Huis in Amersfoort and is organized by Sterrenwacht Midden Nederland.
Weather reports for the Netherlands show almost daily that the weather on the Wadden is different from the rest of the Netherlands. Professor Hans Vugts, professor at the VU, who died on Schiermonnikoog in early 2024, wrote a book entitled Weerzien op de Wadden. based on years of microclimatological Wadden research. The speaker was a colleague and friend of Hans. They participated together in several international measurement campaigns.

The lecture is partly based on Hans' book: using observed temperature, precipitation, wind and sunshine, the specific aspects of weather and climate on the Wadden are highlighted. In addition, topics such as climate change, dune climate, beach ridges, Wadden Sea wind, the Disaster of Moddergat, and the Milky Way on the Bosplaat will be discussed.
