Piet Mondrian recently got his own Outside Escape! And not without reason; in 2022 it will be 150 years since this talented painter was born in Amersfoort. During the Outside Escape you will join the Amersfoort police for about two hours. Do you know how to dismantle the explosives before Mondrian's hometown is wiped out?
Is it dry today? Then pull your roommates or friends into downtown Amersfoort and solve the mystery! Here's what you'll need: a charged cell phone, some fellow sleuths and possibly pen and paper. Puzzle away!
Challenging riddles
I myself will take up the challenge with some colleagues. First we walk to the Amersfoort Kei, the starting point of the Outside Escape. Only when you manage to solve the first riddle will you gain access to the messages from the police commissioner - your supervisor for the day.
I remember in 8th grade being the first to solve the camp mystery, but now I find myself scratching behind my ears first. Fortunately, my colleagues and I are up for a challenge! At some point we think we have the answer, but alas....
We need a hint. It will cost us 1 point, but it will make the pieces of the puzzle slowly fall into place. Yes, the answer is right! We are told where the first explosive is located.
City under water
We manage to dismantle the explosive in no time, but the threat turns out to be greater than expected! The criminal thinks he is doing Mondrian a favor by flooding the entire city. Why does he think Mondrian would have wanted that?
Along the way, we gather more information bit by bit. We learn new things about Mondrian and the city. The riddles make us look at things in a different way. We discover corners and details that we had not noticed before in our own city.
Join hands
Along the way you will pass 11 highlights that we in Amersfoort are proud of. This makes the route extra fun for those who are not (yet) so familiar with our city. Tip: during the route you will pass the cozy square De Hof. The perfect place for a hot cup of coffee and a nice lunch!
The escaperoute requires good cooperation because it is challenging! So very fun as a team building outing. Or divide your group of friends into teams and see who can solve the mystery the fastest. Exciting!
Who will you take on the challenge with?
