Near the center of Amersfoort you will find the Soesterkwartier. A district that is known to go wild in the month of December. Everywhere you see beautifully decorated houses and illuminated streets full of twinkling lights.
Deck the halls XXL
Despite high energy prices, houses and streets are once again abuzz with garlands and lights this year. Because the motto here seems to be: go big or go home. Because no matter what, at Christmas people go all-in. Therefore, you may find the most beautifully decorated houses in the entire country. Or am I a little biased because I live there?
Take a selfie in the sleigh
So judge for yourself and visit the Soesterkwartier in December. A route has been created again this year, which can be cycled but can also be walked. The route takes you along all the glitter, sparkles, lights and the many Santa Clauses and snowmen. There is even an opportunity to take a selfie in Santa's sleigh. Walk or bike the route and enjoy all the sparkling splendor before it is packed up and put away again.
Tips that make the route even more enjoyable
Before you hit the road, I have two more tips for you.
Tip #1: Bring a thermos of chocolate milk or mulled wine to warm up during the route.
Tip 2: Look around, even outside the route you will find decorated houses. Because the Soesterkwartier is full of decorated houses and streets.
Lots of walking and admiring fun in the Soesterkwartier!
