The Koppelpoort is one of the most famous sights in Amersfoort. But did you know that next to this fairytale land and water gate is another special national monument? I am of course talking about the Volmolen. De Volmolen was built in 1645 and is the symbol of centuries of textile industry in our city. Since October 2020, you can find the Cotton Printing Works in this historic building and there are all kinds of things you can do there. In this blog I list all the ins and outs for you.

Cotton printing in the Cotton Print Shop
At the Katoendrukkerij, Amersfoort's textile past really comes back to life in various ways. The most fun part if you ask me? The cotton printing workshop, also known as blockprinting , by Nathalie Cassee.
Using wooden blocks, in which beautiful figures are chiseled, you print the most unique patterns on textiles with paint. You can choose from all kinds of colors. The biggest challenge was thinking about what pattern I wanted to make. After all, the choice of prints is vast and my imagination was well stimulated.
Once practicing and finally printing my bag, I became a child again. How much fun it is to be able to be so creative. Want to know more about cotton printing at the Cotton Printing Studio? Then be sure to read Christel's blog where she shares her experience and tells you more about the ins and outs of cotton printing.
