A weekend away with girlfriends is something I always look forward to immensely! An entire weekend of catching up, laughing, crying, singing, dancing and having fun. No cramming three weeks into one hour, but having all the time to go into endless detail!

After a date pickup, the fun can begin. All kinds of fun plans for the weekend are shared in the group app. There is no shortage of ideas, but we often end up hopping from one restaurant to another.

Starting at a coffee shop (because coffee!!!) where we also end up having lunch, since it's suddenly 2 p.m. already. Then we walk downtown, because of course we can't get home without having seen some of the city.

After an hour of trudging around, friend A asks by default, 'What are we going to do? Carry on for a while or shall we have a drink already?' And yes, by default we choose the latter. Wines, wines, wines! And you can already fill it in. After those nice wines, we really need to eat something.

At the end of the evening, we walk contentedly to our sleeping place.

Ó Or shall we have a little cocktail after all?

Recognizable? Then I have the best itinerary for your weekend getaway with girlfriends in Amersfoort!

Coffee

Weekend Koffie en taart
First things first; a good cup of freshly ground coffee. Start your weekend at Barista Cafe. A cozy, homey coffee bar where passionate baristas create true latte art.

Order your Italian espresso, cappuccino or for the sweet tooth Chocolate Cookie Latte Macchiato (with Chocolate Cookie Monin, whipped cream, chocolate topping and M&Ms!!!) and plop down on the couch in the back. The catching up can begin.

Lunch

Got an appetite? Then walk across the court, toward Madonna. This is my favorite lunch spot these days. When I sit down here, I don't really want to leave. And when I see the menu, I also want to eat indefinitely.

The selection is very diverse and by now I know that they always go the extra mile in the preparation. A salmon sandwich is not a simple salmon sandwich, but a freshly toasted sandwich with thickly cut slices of salmon, a perfectly boiled egg, avocado and a slice of smoked bacon! Mmmmm!

Address: Krommestraat 32

After all that deliciousness, it's time to get moving. When you walk out of Madonna, you are in "the nicest street in Amersfoort": the Krommestraat. Shop your clothes in one of the many cute boutiques or browse around for unique home accessories and craft products. Roots, Las Lunas, Exposa and Lab are my absolute favorites!

Is it time for drinks yet?

Surely the most cozy place to have a drink is Stadscafé. As soon as you enter, you get the feeling you are at a birthday party. Young and old gather here all day long to raise a glass, chat and have a bite to eat.

Take a seat at the bar, on the sofa in the conservatory or at the high tables and order your favorite drink and the drinks board. Enjoy!

Brasa

Weekend Brasa
This weekend feels like mini vacation, right? To reinforce that even more make a reservation at Brasa. Upon entering you immediately imagine yourself in the Spanish spheres and forget for a moment that you are in the Netherlands. The industrial interior consists of a collection of stuff from antique and thrift stores. How cool!

The menu is a walhalla especially for the doubters among us. It consists mainly of small dishes to share (or not). A sampling of the menu: chops of Manchego lamb, fried razor clams in cream and garlic and fried eggplant chips. Starting to salivate already?

After dinner, you can linger for drinks. The feeling that you still have the whole evening, really makes Brasa a must in your girlfriends weekend.

Sleep well... Or still one more drink?

Weekend Long john
When you stay at Lange Jan Hotel, you don't have to hesitate between a drink or your bed. After all, here you can do both. This characteristic hotel is located in the heart of Amersfoort, above Long John's Pub.

After a cozy nightcap, all you have to do is climb the stairs and, overlooking the tower, you can fall asleep.

Address: Krankeleden Street 20-22

Breakfast

Weekend ontbijt
After such a pleasant evening, you only feel like one thing: breakfast! The Bread Atelier is definitely the place to be. Here it smells like a Sunday morning should; like freshly baked bread. That alone makes it one of my favorites.

The owners Peter and Lisa lovingly explain to you in detail what they have on hand and advise you what you should really taste. Traditionally baked sourdough bread with a slice of Parma ham, croissants with jam or a thick slice of sugar bread with butter. A good cup of coffee with it and you're good to go!

Don't forget to take home a loaf of bread. Then you can reminisce all week!
