From December 18 to 24, the Glass House will be at De Nieuwe Stad in Amersfoort. Radio DJs Barend van Deelen, Sophie Hijlkema and Rob Janssen will spin request records all week for 3FM Serious Request to raise money for The Forgotten Child. To get to know our prospective lodgers better, we put some pithy statements to them.

The Glass House should always be in Amersfoort!

Barend: "De Nieuwe Stad is the ideal location for it, but it's cool that we're going to other places as well. What makes me especially happy is that the Glass House seems to be able to stand in full glory in Amersfoort this year. That was different last year."

Sophie: "No, the concept should stay throughout the Netherlands. However, I do find it extra fun to be in this edition. I lived in Amersfoort for a year and have been in love with this city ever since. The center is super cozy and full of good restaurants and pubs!"

The Forgotten Child is the best foundation to take action for.

Rob: "In any case, it's a very good cause. You wouldn't wish it on anyone to grow up in an unsafe home situation. The Forgotten Child makes these children feel like children again and that is worth a lot. I am happy to take action for this with the whole of the Netherlands."

Sophie: "You can hardly declare a foundation or initiative the best. We talked a lot with volunteers and with people who themselves did not grow up safe or loving. There are a hundred thousand children in the Netherlands to whom that scenario applies. I feel honored to take action for a foundation that helps these children."

I'm going to miss my own bed the most.

Rob: "Once! Both my bed and a good night's sleep. I ran into that last year in The Glass House as well. I get rather corny and recalcitrant from little sleep. That can make for great radio, though."

Sophie: "I'm going to miss my cat Findus the most."

Barend: "I am going to miss my girlfriend and two boys immensely. We live in Hooglanderveen so fortunately they are always around."

The best way to raise money is to raid your savings account.

Barend: "Only if you can spare it! Of course, the idea behind 3FM Serious Request is to raise money for charity. Whether your donation is then obtained by collecting deposits, baking cookies or pulling a debit card; the most important thing is that you stop by to donate an amount and request a record!"

The idea of playing only Christmas songs scares me.

Rob: "It's the week before Christmas so bring it on! It's still your donation, but once in a while the DJs in The Glass House can use some extra spice. Then 'Fryslân Bop' by Joost really goes like a train!

Barend: "Every request is a donation so that certainly doesn't scare you! From me you can always request 'Driving Home For Christmas' by Chris Rea. The non-Christmas songs that make me happy are 'Black & Gold' by Sam Sparro and any song by my favorite rapper Kevin.

Sophie: "I have every confidence in the music taste of the 3FM listeners and visitors. I expect a bit more than exclusively Christmas songs. You can always make me happy with Massive Attack, Wham!, 'Porcelain' by Moby and 'Step Right Up' by Jamai!
