Beer brewer Koen Overeem (Rock City Brewing) loves Amersfoort. He likes to share this love with you. That's why he gives you 5 reasons to visit Amersfoort. Watch the short video (58 seconds) and then read the reasons, with additional information, below the video.
1. A beautiful downtown with lots of history
There is no getting around this. Amersfoort's greatest treasure is its history. In the many monuments, streets, canals and subtle details you can feel the medieval city that originated in the 13th century. Would you like to experience this for yourself? Then walk the photo route, for example, where you will see all the hotspots of Amersfoort in a walk of about an hour and a half. Along the way, don't forget to have a beer in the city' s oldest brewery. Who knows, you might run into Koen.

2. The lively squares filled with cozy terraces
Enjoying the sunshine? You can do so on one of the cozy terraces in Amersfoort. For example on the Hof, the largest square in the city. Or at the hidden gem under the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren: the Krankeledenplantsoen.

3. Trendy hotspots outside downtown
If you come to visit Amersfoort, it is good to know that the city has much more to offer than just its old, but beautiful, city center. For example, you can enjoy industrial Amersfoort in De Nieuwe StadDe Nieuwe Stad is located directly on the Eemhaven and is a particularly historic area to visit. You can still taste the authentic atmosphere and rich history of De Nieuwe Stad in places like the old soap factory, the Rohm & Haas villa and the former Prodent factory.
You can also explore the Wagenwerkplaats, behind Amersfoort Central Station. At the Wagenwerkplaats you will find two theaters, a traffic garden, a climbing hall, event venues and lots of cool restaurants.

4. The local craft
In Amersfoort a lot of things are self-made. Like homemade bikes, breads and of course the special beers brewed by Koen himself: in his Rock City Brewpub. In his brewery you can enjoy different beers and have a nice bite to eat. They have an open kitchen, equipped with a BBQ and a smoker.
