Djokovic in Amersfoort
In 2006, the then relatively unknown Novak Djokovic captured his very first ATP title at the Dutch Open in Amersfoort. It turned out to be the beginning of an impressive career for the Serbian. At the time, tournament director Hans Felius brought the 19-year-old Djokovic to the Netherlands. Despite his talent, the teenager attracted little audience. Still, he won the tournament without losing a set. Djokovic never returned to the Dutch Open, but the connection with the tournament remained special. Amersfoort was where it all began for the world number one.
