Tribute for Amersfoort sports heroes!

On Tuesday, September 10, Amersfoort will honor its Olympic and Paralympic athletes. The municipality is organizing a public and festive tribute on the Lieve Vrouwekerkhof. Medalists Femke Bol (athletics) and Caspar Corbeau (swimming) have already promised to be there. The Paralympic team is now in Paris to compete.

The inauguration will take place between 7 and 8 p.m., starting at 6:30 p.m. The program will begin. Currently the program is filled with music and sports clubs of Olympians and Paralympians present. Mayor Lucas Bolsius will honor the athletes together with all Amersfoorters present.

Point of the chair

Alderman Ben van Koningsveld (Sports): "A summer full of amazing performances by our Amersfoort athletes left many people on the edge of their seats. Also on the Lieve Vrouwekerkhof, where the achievements of Femke Bol, among others, could even be seen on a big screen. And now we get to cheer for the Paralympians with their chance swimming team. All these fantastic athletes will get the appreciation they deserve on September 10!"

Attending inauguration

Everyone is welcome in the square as long as there is space. Preferably visitors come walking, by public transport or by bicycle. Bicycle parking can be done in Langestraat or in the free bicycle racks Sint Jorisplein (crossing Hellestraat-Molenstraat) and Amicitia. These shelters will remain open until 9 p.m.

In order to keep cars and cyclists out of Lieve Vrouwekerkhof, a number of streets around the square will be closed off. Between 18:00 and 20:30 there will be no car or bicycle traffic on Breestraat, Lieve Vrouwestraat, Lieve Vrouwekerkhof and Langegracht. From Langestraat cyclists will be barred in Krankeledestraat and Lieve Vrouwestraat. Traffic controllers will be deployed; their instructions will be leading.
