Visit the Volmolen get hands-on exposure to the craft of cotton printing. De Katoendrukkerij settles in national monument the Volmolen. Europe's first cotton printing company also settled in Amersfoort in the 17th century.
Built in 1645, the Volmolen is the symbol of the city's centuries-long textile industry. This former water mill was built on the city wall at the time and is attached on one side to the 14th century Koppelpoort. This land and water gate is the city's most famous monument. On the other side is the Volmolen on Zocherplantsoen and the Stoneystuw in the Oosterbuitensingel.
